Week 6

Assignment- our assignment for this week was to elaborate on our idea of something we are passionate about.

Craft- I wanted to keep the cell bars the same, but I feel like expanding the background will have a bigger affect on my message and make the people stand out more. Also, I am going to change the guy's outfit instead of a dark, mugging scene to a jock, letterman outfit.  This is to represent the youth of these kids, and symbolize how most of the abortions today are done by kids who are younger than 20.  His current outfit makes him see like a mugger, which is not the message I wanted to send.

Composition- I started out looking at my project I already completed and after professor peck comments, I decided to make some changes. I liked the cell bars in front the the people and did not want to change that, and also wanted to keep the girl the same. I really like her facial expression. For the guy, I am going to have it appear he is a superstar jock and is encouraging this abortion because he can't handle the responsibility of a child.  He has too much other stuff going on right now.

Concept- Changing the mugger to a jock shows that most abortions are done with kids in high school who are too busy to take care of a baby, and cannot follow through with their actions.  if one is old enough to perform sexually, they should be old enough to make the right decision when the outcome is pregnancy.  In these cases, these two kids should be put in jail for murder.

  1. Craft: (How it was made?)
-This art work was created using photoshop software and the software was used effectively. For this project the artists had freedom and she used this freedom to create a piece about something that she cares about. In order for this project to convey its message, the artist had to plan ahead. After taking the picture and modifying them to fit the message a draft was produced. After receiving feedback on the piece, some modifications were needed. This project probably took a lot of effort and it shows because the art work delivers its message.

    Composition: (How it was arranged?)
-The arrangement of all the elements in this piece makes it easy for the viewer to read the picture and the intended message. Since the central theme of this piece is that abortion is wrong and the people that do engage in this activity should go to jail, it is appropriate that the two characters are located behind bars. The first thing that might get noticed are the jail bars which would be followed by either of the characters, but most likely the girl because she is on the left side of the page; also because in The United States people read from left to right. After the people in the image, the gun would appear. What keeps the eye centered and focused on the action is the fact that around the people there is a drape like red covering.

    Concept: (What it is about?)
-This project is about abortion and the people that participate in it. From the image it looks like the people are young. Young couples are sometimes careless and this carelessness leads to pregnancy. Pregnancy is nothing to joke about, it is a serious matter because in nine months there will be a helpless individual who is going to require much attention, care, and nurturing. It is a big responsibility to have a child; some people are ready for the challenge, but other are not thus leading them to turn to their only option which is to terminate the pregnancy. This piece is saying that if you are old enough to engage in adult actions, than you should be old enough to carry out the responsibilities that come along, and if you choose to terminate than you should be treated as an adult who has just committed a murder.
